Iran's Ambassador to Islamabad, Reza Amiri Moghadam, has conveyed that Iran is prepared to offer Pakistan affordable gas, electricity, and oil. Responding to an inquiry during a dinner, Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam disclosed that plans for direct flights between Iran and Pakistan's capitals are underway. Formal proposals have been exchanged, and Pakistan has expressed agreement, pending Cabinet approval, to initiate these flights.
The ambassador highlighted discussions between the two countries about extending the "fifth freedom" facility to Iran's four airlines in exchange for a similar privilege for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) in Iran. Presently, flights operate from Lahore and Karachi to Mashhad.
Addressing the potential of a gas pipeline connection between Iran and Pakistan, Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam acknowledged the challenges posed by US sanctions. He emphasized the need for a solution that ensures Pakistan's access to the gas pipeline while circumventing any impediments.
