Masjid Quba, also known as Quba Mosque (Arabic: مسجد قباء), holds significant historical importance in Islam. It is the place where the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), first stayed in Madinah after their emigration from Makkah. This event took place on the 12th of Rab'i al-Awwal, marking the commencement of the Islamic calendar (Hijra) on July 16, 622 CE. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) himself established a mosque at this location, making it the first mosque built in Islam.
The Quran acknowledges the virtue of Masjid Quba in Surah Taubah with the verse: "...certainly a masjid founded on piety from the very first day is more deserving that you should stand in it..." [9:108].
Furthermore, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized the significance of Masjid Quba by stating, "He who purifies himself at his home and comes to Masjid Quba and offers two rakats therein, will be rewarded with the equivalent of the reward of an Umrah (lesser pilgrimage)" [Sunan ibn Majah]
