The federal government has announced three public holidays in Islamabad and Rawalpindi from October 14 to 16 in connection with the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit.
The summit, set to take place on October 15 and 16, will see attendance from representatives of member countries, including Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, along with leaders from China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Iran. All educational institutions and government offices will remain closed during this period.
In preparation, Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi chaired a high-level meeting to review security arrangements, emphasizing the importance of the summit and the need for extensive security measures, including the deployment of additional personnel from various security forces.
