The Punjab government has officially approved the ambitious 'Nawaz Sharif Innovation City' in Lahore, committing a substantial Rs 100 billion to the initiative aimed at generating a million job opportunities.
According to media reports, this pioneering project has the potential to transform Lahore into the economic powerhouse of the province.
Previously put on hold during the tenure of former Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the project is now gaining momentum under the new administration.
The Lahore Knowledge Park Company, which previously oversaw the project, has handed over responsibility to the Punjab Central Business District Development Authority, rebranding it as the 'Nawaz Sharif Innovation City'.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has given her approval and allocated an initial funding of Rs 10 billion. The innovation city is envisioned as a multifaceted hub featuring dedicated zones for IT, education, film, and residential and commercial activities.
