The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has announced that Pakistan, China, and Spain will serve as hosts for the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers scheduled from 13 to 21 January 2024.
Pakistan will be hosting the event after a 20-year gap since it last hosted it in 2004. The women's qualifiers will be held in Changzhou, China, and Valencia, Spain, while the men's qualifiers will take place in Lahore, Pakistan, and Valencia, Spain. Each tournament will feature eight teams, with a total of 16 teams per gender.
The continental quotas have been allocated for the qualification tournaments, with teams earning their spots based on their performance in the 2023 Continental Championships. The top teams from each tournament will qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics, joining the hosts, France, and the winners of each Continental Championship. The Olympic hockey tournaments will consist of 12 teams per gender, with each squad comprising 16 athletes.
