A concerning incident unfolded during the second semi-final of the Pakistan Cup 2023-24 between Karachi Whites and Multan, as Shan Masood, the newly-appointed Test team captain for Pakistan, suffered an injury scare in a collision with Sarfaraz Ahmed at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi. The mishap occurred when Sohaib Maqsood hit the ball high into the air at the 8.2 overs mark, prompting both Masood and Sarfaraz to sprint for the catch, resulting in a severe collision.
Despite Sarfaraz managing to get back on his feet, Masood appeared to be in significant discomfort, clutching his ankle in pain. The collision led to a temporary halt in the game as medical assistance was called onto the field to address Masood's injury. Prior to the incident, Masood had showcased an impressive performance, scoring a quick-fire 41 runs off just 38 balls during the first innings. The situation left everyone on the field concerned about the extent of Masood's injury, raising questions about his availability for the upcoming Australia tour.
