Education in Pakistan

At this time almost 23 million children aged 6-16 years are out of school. Global Education Campaign (.org) (US) with its sister organization Dosti Welfare Organization (Dostiwelfare.org) has been hard at work to take education to these children. At this writing, 4447 one-room schools have been either established or strengthened throughout Pakistan (the map on the website). We have challenged ourselves with an audacious goal of ending illiteracy in Pakistan by the end of 2025 - Campaign 2025. We are also concerned about the quality of higher education in Pakistan. By most measures, it is not up to par. To that end we have begun the campaign of enriching the libraries in schools and colleges. We are inviting participations in our efforts. I believe that there are those who want to take this challenge and have a burning desire to lift the status of Pakistan on the world stage but they do not find an all-accepting organization. Well, here is one.

How can you help:

  1. Let everyone in Pakistan know that such an organization is at work that is concerned with the young children as well as those in colleges and universities.
  2. Also let them know that we will provide them all the tools to get going -- Material, instruction, guidance, etc.
  3. Establish one-room schools in your living rooms, verandahs courtyards, under the trees, or in the open.
  4. Find volunteers to teach these children.
  5. Encourage women to come forward to take on the role of teachers in such schools.
  6. Take the books that are lying around in the home that you have already read, to your local or college.
  7. Help your school or college of graduation with clean-up jobs or repairs and if possible make monetary donations. No amount is too small.
  8. Give away football balls. Establish regional sports teams and arrange matches.
  9. Arrange tours. Take the high school children to the universities. Let them establish a mental imagery.
  10. Establish music bands in schools.
